At&t anunció hoy la función de MMS para los teléfonos iPhone.  Aunque anunciado desde principios de año y que vendría con el nuevo OS 3.0 para el iPhone, fue retrasado hasta este mes y todavía no es hasta el 25 de septiembre que lo tendremos disponible.

At&t ha tenido muchas críticas a cerca de su red, que no está preparada para la tecnología que contiene este teléfono y tal parece que es correcto y tratan poco a poco de corregirlo.  Cosas como éstas, tan sencillas que TODO teléfono tiene, pone en duda la capacidad de la compañía para trabajar en conjunto y al 100% con el iPhone.  Hasta ahora no hay comentarios de precios pero entendemos que estará incluido en los costos actuales.  El colmo sería que esté incluido con un costo adicional… esperemos que no sea así.

¿Junto con la actualización eliminarán el famoso ‘tethering’, que ya fue eliminado en la versión Beta del OS 3.1?  Los rumores indican que para septiembre también será oficial una versión legal para el ‘tethering’ (internet en tu computadora a través del teléfono) pero ahí sí que vendrán con costos adicionales… At&t no es tan dadivoso con sus clientes, ojalá me sorprendan.

An Update on iPhone MMS for our Mobility Customers

We know many of our iPhone customers are eager for an update on our rollout schedule for Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS). We’ve been working for the past several months to prepare our systems and network to ensure the best possible experience with MMS when it launches – and that launch date is: September 25 for iPhone 3G and 3GS customers. MMS will be enabled through a software update on that day.

We know that iPhone users will embrace MMS. The unique capabilities and high usage of the iPhone’s multimedia capabilities required us to work on our network MMS architecture to carry the expected record volumes of MMS traffic and ensure an excellent experience from Day One. We appreciate your patience as we work toward that end.
